All the President’s Men are Court Jesters and the Return of Niger Delta Avengers.

Flurry of innuendos from the president’s spokespersons have pervaded our polity. They seem to be high on some crazy stuffs in which they are competing for who takes the award for the wackiest spokesperson of the year. They provide satire for the discerning mind and confusion for simpletons. From the APC party spokesman, Alhaji Bolaji telling us President Buhari isn’t aware of the campaign promise of banning medical treatment abroad during the campaigns to Lauretta Onochie, the lady that has brought obloquy to the presidency ceaselessly, claiming that the N88b payout to victims of the Biafra war, which was ordered by the court is Buhari’s goodwill.

Femi Adesina cannot be missing in the Olympic-esque marathon to be crowned the court jester. He stated that PDP is the reason Buhari travels abroad for treatment. No need to explain that but whatever he meant, he must be operating under the belief that Nigerians are under a spell — very laughable. Maybe, two years isn’t enough to establish a good hospital with over N10bn budget. Garba Shehu, the senior media aide has categorically stated that the video in which Chief of Staff Abba Kyari had an altercation with Mrs Oyo-Ita at the FEC over her memo exposing Buhari as complicit in #Mainagate reinstatement is “wrong”, with VP Osinbajo listening like a concerned boss whose two employees are quarreling to outdo each other to please their employer. Whatever Garba meant by it is “wrong”, I don’t want to know. Google and watch the video and make your own interpretation.

Some of the junior aides like Bashir Ahmad urged on by other mid-level aides like Tolu are celebrating airlifting of former VP Alex Ekwueme to abroad for medical treatment. The spin was that Buhari approved what is supposed to be a statutory entitlement. You see, there is a concerted effort to please Ndi Igbo to woo them for Buhari’s re-election given the disquiet in the South West and North Central. However, I have noted that all Buhari has to do is forget all the window dressing. Just observe FEDERAL CHARACTER and give Igbos their dues from the budget. And rescind IPOB proscription. That’s all. If the presidency likes, let them airlift every sick person in the South East for medical treatment abroad, it won’t garner much goodwill.

I can’t conclude this piece without mentioning the Goebbels of this administration, the bombastic and audacious Lai Muhammad, the Chief propagandist and minister of information. He turns truth on its head. He has told us that Buhari is performing and has fulfilled ALL his campaign promises. Meanwhile Some ministers have also joined in the rabble rousing. Ngige informed us that Buhari has created 7 million “blue collar” jobs but note that the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics has reported month-on-month job losses since Buhari was inaugurated. Disputing these people is like arguing with a drunk. This administration is sustained with unabated information manipulation to sway the citizens and distort their perception of existing realities — the harsh economy and undemocratic meanderings of Buhari.

Nonetheless, the most distressing news is that Niger Delta Avengers have resumed hostilities. They chided Tompolo, mocked PANDEF and threatened total shut down of the oil sector. President Buhari sanctioned disruption of meeting of PANDEF, the equivalent of Ohaneze, Afenifere and Arewa groups for the South South, thinking it’s IPOB. Now, Niger Delta Avengers have resumed hostilities. WAHALA DEY.
